THE BASICS

Cricket is one of the most popular team sports in the world. It combines strategy, skill, teamwork, and excitement.

  • Players: Cricket is played between two teams with 11 players each.
  • Ground: The game is played on a large oval-shaped field with a pitch in the center.
  • Bat & Ball: Players use a wooden cricket bat and a hard leather ball.
Cricket Match

BATTING & BOWLING

  • The bowler delivers the ball overarm from one end of the pitch.
  • The batter scores runs by hitting the ball and running between the wickets or by hitting boundaries.
  • A boundary earns 4 runs if the ball touches the ground before crossing the rope and 6 runs if it crosses without bouncing.

BALL IN PLAY

  • Fielders can stop the ball and attempt run-outs or catches.
  • Batters can defend, attack, or rotate strike during gameplay.
  • The bowling team must follow fielding and bowling rules throughout the match.

SCORING

  • The team with the highest runs wins the match.
  • Different formats include T20, One Day, and Test Cricket.
  • Partnerships and consistent scoring are key to building a strong total.
